Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ is full on WOW. The movie starts at full speed and finishes the way we expect Indiana Jones films to play. Nineteen years break between films does not detract from this fabulous story because with Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas nothing else is possible. Shia LeBouf as Mutt Williams gives us an infusion of young blood to the story bringing with him some fun moments. Cate Blanchett as Irina Spalko is a delight to watch as she leads the bad guys in their quest to save the skull for the Soviets.
Regarding Indy’s age Mutt Williams says to him at one time, "For an old man, you ain't bad in a fight." Spielberg summed it up when he said, "It's not the years, it's the mileage".
David Koepp's script gives us a solid story that is true to the character of Indiana Jones. Ford's fantastic performance gives us Indy just as we viewers remember him: tricky, smart, impatient and genuinely American.
Director Steven Spielberg has largely avoided computer-generated effects with the result that the film's action sequences have genuine feel about them. Spielberg's now-regular cinematographer Janusz Kaminski has succeeded in reproducing the Indiana Jones look.
